A magic flood of pictures, movements, sounds, lights and water – this is a hallmark of DEREVO. The group of russian artists, founded 1998 in Leningrad and working in Dresden since 1996, believes in the nether world of purposes, in a realm of the pure ideas which rather may be reachable with the help of some wizardry than realistic theatre.
Exclusively for the Anniversary of the City of Mannheim in 2007 DEREVO creates a magically moving world together with the installation artists from Holland, members of Technology & Arts Festival Robodock, as well as with the Performance Masters – AKHE from St.Peterbsurg. Overall there are more than 30 dancers, artists, actors and musicians are engaged to bring this project to life, inspired by Freedom, Music, Water and Mobility at the 400th Anniversary of Mannheim.
The Performance takes place on an abandoned railway terrains not far from the Mannheim's main station.
From July 24 to 29 the visitors can have a look at the halls and spaces of an old depot of the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) in another and quite unexpected angle and prospective, created by DEREVO; to explore closely the intensive relations between humans and the machines, as well as to say good bye to a place which soon will not exist any more, in favour of the Mannheim's future project "21".
