Dear
friends,
Two
new projects mark the years 2000 and 2001 for DEREVO:
“SÜD.GRENZE”, the first ever DEREVO movie was finished after nearly three years of work in December 2000. It is a 16mm black and white movie directed by Anton Adassinski and produced by the company itself. The film is now touring Film Festivals in Europe: It was invited to the Göteborg Film Festival 2001 in February and will be presented at the festival "After Yesterday's Crash" in Maastricht, Holland, at the "International Film Festival Moscow", at "Filmfest München" as well as the "Edinburgh International Film Festival" (see tourplan). Applications for the USA (New York) as well as Canada (Montreal) have been made.
“SUICIDE”
is the title of the new performance we have been working on since spring 2000.
The work on this play around "The Love between Man and Death" was
continued in St. Petersburg, "SUICIDE" then played the "Golden
Mask" Festival in Moscow (nominated for the "Innovation-Award").
The Premiere in a big tent is in June in Holland (see
tourplan).
Three
other performances will stay in the repertoire of DEREVO for 2001:
“ONCE...”,
winner of “FRINGE FIRST” and “HERALD ANGEL” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
1998 in the meantime made it’s way onto big stages. In 2000 “ONCE...” again
played numerous festivals in Europe and was presented overseas in Hong Kong,
Korea and México.
„THE
RIDER“
(winner of PRIX MIMOS 1998) has been renewed. We played it in London in January
and toured Sweden in February.
„REFLECTION“
(winner
of PRIX MIMOS 2000), the solo performance by Tanya Khabarova had appearances
at dance festivals in Poland, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, England and
Germany.
For those of you who don't know yet: Lots of honour came to the company lately:
In March 2000 the company was awarded the "Support Prize for Performing Arts" as part of "Kunstpreis Berlin 2000" at "Akademie der Kunste" in Berlin.
On 15. September 2000 we were presented with the "Innovation Prize" of the culture funding organisation "Ludwig Forum" in the German city of Aachen.
Last but not least: the international critics jury at MIMOS Festival in Perigeux (France) decided to award "REFLECTION" with the PRIX DU JURY DE PRESSE in August 2000 and in December the organisation "Asociacion Mexicana de Criticos d Teatro" gave ONCE... the "Premio a lo mejor del teatro internacional en el ano 2000".
In March 2001 we were happy to receive the "Support
Prize" of Advanta Management AG which is given by a local jury as part
of "Kunstpreis Dresden 2000".
Best wishes
Chester
