as the days are getting shorter it is the best time to go to the movies. So it is good to know that our movie „Sud.Grenze" („South.Border") will keep on running after the recent presentation on
2. November as part of „Hawaii International Film Festival".

The film was presented in the Honolulu Academy of Arts Theatre inside the section „Monochrome Dimensions". „South.Border is a surrealist trip, navigating a monochrome landscape poised for apocalypse, the Christ-like „Gaucho" searches for hope and peace in this bleak, Brechtian drama" wrote Lisa Windsor as an introduction.

The next dates to see „Sud.Grenze" will be:

17. November inside the competion part of the festival OFF CINEMA in Poznan, Poland.
6. - 31. December in cinema „Schauburg" (Tarkowski Saal) in Dresden, Germany.

Once again back to the USA: The Fall 2001 issue of „arts international" magazine portraits the company under the title „Beyond Butoh: Russian Dance Theater in Dresden". Quote: „Powerful, intense, obscure and abstract yet visually compelling, well paced and often wildly funny, Derevo theater is the opposite of instant and the opposite of decadent: an antidote 42nd Street". The author Ruth Juliet Wikler sees the the style of the company „at the crossroads of Butoh, Russian clowing, dada and Greek mythology".

The coming winter will be spent mainly with working on new projects like the next movie and with rehearsing for the production „ISLANDS IN THE STREAM" („Inseln im Strom"), a work commissioned by Dresdner Musikfestspiele 2002. The first performances are booked for 17./ 18. May 2002 at „Festspielhaus Hellerau" in Dresden.

Before DEREVO will continue the cooperation with Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar and start a new one with Staatsschauspiel Dresden. "THE RIDER" is booked to play in Weimar on 25./ 26. January 2002, „ONCE..." will be presented by Staatsschauspiel Dresden in their theatre inside Dresden castle, Schlosstheater on 1. and 2. February 2002. On 3. February 2002 we will present „THE RIDER" there.

More news about the planning for 2002 will be available at this place at the beginning of December.
