Dear friends,

spring in Berlin is a fabulous experience: From one day to another life has gone to the streets. Swans, ducks, people, dog and birds enjoy the first really warming sunbeams of the year. Every bar, cafe, restaurant suddenly has tables outside, all places are taken.

DEREVO is right in the middle in Berlin-Kreuzberg working in wonderful „Theater am Ufer". The new production „Islands in the stream" is beginning to shape. And also this news fits to the topic of spring: „SUICIDE" will turn into „LA DIVINA COMMEDIA". Maybe this could be the medical term for the love between man and death that we have been looking for ?

If you want to find out what is behind this, you can do so quite soon: From 16. - 21. April DEREVO will show the first six performances under the new title which really is an old one: The pictures of Dante were somewhere in the back of our heads when the work began.

„LA DIVINA COMMEDIA" will mark a big part of DEREVO's playlist for 2002: Nearly four weeks of Edinburgh can be found on it, finally Edinburgh again after four years of absence from this probably most beautiful festival in Europe. If you've never been there you should keep August free, because nowhere in the world culture plays a bigger role than in August in Edinburgh where jazz, cinema, literature, dance and theatre unite with military music (!!). „Tatoo" they call this in Edinburgh.

There is also a tight connection between spring and „ONCE...", the DEREVO fairy tale about love. In May a return can be celebrated - the return to Divadlo Branicki in Prague where DEREVO was based in the early nineties. In July the path with „ONCE..." will lead back to Brazil where Tanya Khabarova captured the public with „REFLECTION" like a storm two years ago.

And also this: In June, when DEREVO will return to „Theater am Ufer" to present two stage productions and the film „South.Border" in Berlin we also plan to hold a masterclass of Anton Adassinski, the first one after a long time. Applications for this are open now.

The playlist has filled up and after some absence the actors are burning to be back on the surface that means the world for us.
